Wykreował także bohaterów dla Marvel Comics, w tym Strażników Galaktyki. W 2008 został pośmiertnie wprowadzony do Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame[2].

Drake otrzymał kilka nagród za swoją pracę, w tym nagrodę Alley Award w 1967 w kategorii Best Full-Length Story. Nagrodzony został wtedy komiks Who's Been Lying in My Grave? ze Strange Adventures #205, współtworzone z Carmine Infantino. W tym samym roku zdobył też tę nagrodę w kategorii Best New Strip (komiks Deadman z Strange Adventures)[3]. W 1999 zdobył Inkpot Award[4].
W 2005 dotrzymał Bill Finger Award w kategorii Excellence in Comics Writing[5].
